GeoRankle, GeoPaint & Halfsies: Three Daily Games Compared

GeoRankle, GeoPaint, and Halfsies all give everyone the same short puzzle for the day. The resemblance stops at the skill: one is a ranking problem, one is a colour match, and one is a cut through a three-dimensional object.

GeoRankle, GeoPaint, and Halfsies are now listed in the DLE Directory. Here is how each daily mode works, where it gets difficult, and which habit each one suits.

GeoRankle asks where a country ranks best

GeoRankle World daily with an unplaced country and unused ranking categories

GeoRankle deals eight countries, one at a time. For each country you pick the unused statistic where it ranks highest in the world. Every category can be used only once, so an early greedy pick can strand a later country in a weaker slot.

A near miss still scores. That keeps the round moving, but the interesting decision is the trade-off across the full set, not a single perfect match. World is the shared daily. Region editions stay inside one continent and are extra.

Choose this if you like comparing countries on numbers more than naming capitals or drawing borders.

GeoPaint is five flags with one colour missing

GeoPaint is from the same site, but the loop is visual. A flag appears with one stripe or field blank. Hue, saturation, and brightness sliders rebuild that colour. Closer matches score more, up to 100 points per flag.

The World daily has five rounds. Region editions use fewer flags, so the totals are not the same puzzle. Play this when you want to look at flags instead of ranking tables.

It is the fastest of the three if you do not linger on the sliders. It is also the one that punishes a confident but slightly wrong hue.

Halfsies is a cut by weight, not by outline

Halfsies daily object with a cut line placed and Cut still unpressed

Halfsies gives five dated objects. Draw a line across each one, then cut. The target is half by weight. Heavier materials count for more than a large empty volume, and a line along the length of the object will not cut.

The site times a round at about three minutes. Endless, Twist, and Cabinet are extra modes. The numbered daily is the shared five-object set.

This is the odd one out in the set: it is spatial, not geographic. Choose it when you want to look at an object in space rather than a map.

Which daily game should you try first?

The useful split is the skill each game asks for:

  • Choose GeoRankle if you want eight ranking decisions that interact with each other.
  • Choose GeoPaint if you want a short colour-matching loop on flags.
  • Choose Halfsies if you want a physical cut and a clear five-object finish.

GeoPaint is the quickest close. GeoRankle takes longer because a later country can punish an early category. Halfsies is short, but you have to look at the object, not a table.
